The Life & Art of Charles M. Schulz
On exhibit november 2, 2024 through january 17, 2025
This exhibition is being presented in part through a gift from the Alamance Arts’ Louise & Carlyle Wooten Family Fund, which was established to bring to the Alamance County community arts programming and arts exhibitions of national and international acclaim. Presenting Sponsors specific to this exhibit are Rick and Lummy Barnes, Glen Raven Industries, and Thomas Powell IV.
Charles Monroe Schulz brightened the world for over 50 years with his Peanuts comic strip, which debuted October 2, 1950. With Snoopy, Charlie Brown, and the rest of the lovable Peanuts Gang, Schulz explored the emotional territory of friendship, disappointment, faith, and tolerance. He was an artist and a storyteller who transformed images of everyday life into art that captured the humor, vulnerability, and dignity of the human spirit. Through Peanuts, Schulz connected people everywhere with his drawings and stories, The Life & Art of Charles M. Schulz explores Schulz's personal history and his role as the sole inspiration and artistic talent behind Peanuts and its unique cast of characters. The exhibition follows Schulz from his Minnesota roots to his life in California and tracks the development of the characters that make up the unique world of Peanuts.
This special exhibit is available for viewing November 2, 2024 through January 17, 2025. Special additions to the exhibit include a replica of Charles Schulz studio, as well as photo opportunities at Lucy's Psychiatric Booth and Snoopy's Dog House. While visiting the exhibit, you'll also be able to shop not only for Peanuts merchandise, but hand made artisan items created especially for holiday gift giving by local artists featured in our Picasso's Gift Shop.
